English As A Second Language
ESL classes strive to accomplish workplace goals that are identified
by the company. These goals arise from work-related needs that
are present with non-native English speaking employees. Students
gain speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well
as the cultural awareness needed to: a) understand how the workplace
functions b) learn their jobs well c) communicate and cooperate
with employees and supervisors.
The Problem
- Do your employees know and understand company procedures such
as; how to call in sick, how to use time clocks and time sheets,
how to complete insurance papers, how to work safely and what
to do in the case of an emergency?
- Do they understand work-related vocabulary such as; the language
on work orders and alphanumeric codes?
- Are they able to; communicate lack of understanding, ask for
help, receive and deliver messages, and adapt to changes in
work procedures?
Our Solution To Learn...
- An understanding of company procedures
- Knowledge to help fulfill job responsibilities
- How to effectively communicate with coworkers and supervisors
Course Outline
Prospective students are evaluated to determine their current
level of English knowledge and then classes are formed by levels.
The instructor meets with management to determine the goals for
the class. Instruction focuses on attaining the goals through
activities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English.
Periodic contact is made with the students’ supervisors
to ascertain what progress is being made towards meeting the goals.
