Diversity Training - Diversity in the Workplace

Learning organizations acknowledge that working successfully with others who don't share the same background, beliefs or traditions is a top priority in the new workplace. Employees need help in assessing their behavior toward people who are different from themselves, and they must understand the benefits of changing negative attitudes and resistance into appreciation and cooperation.

In a reflective, non-intimidating manner we present important diversity information to help individuals look honestly at themselves to identify attitudes and behavior that stands in the way of teamwork. We help employees explore diversity in the following key areas:

  • Knowledge
  • Understanding
  • Acceptance
  • Behavior

Through our team approach to learning, the customization we provide for you, the classroom activities and the personal assessment, we will help people in your organization:

  • Discover their personal comfort level with people different from themselves
  • Understand the impact of their behavior on others
  • Assess the accuracy of their knowledge about differences
  • Limit the influence of stereotypes
  • Reduce conflict
  • Transform knowledge into acceptance and empathy
  • Embrace diversity as a source of organizational strength

M.E.E.T. on Common Ground (Speaking Up for Respect In the Workplace)

Our diversity training program will provide your employees with the tools they need to recognize, respond to, and resolve difficult interactions that can stem from individual and cultural differences. Unfortunately, these kinds of situations can lead to strained relationships - even hostile environments, complaints and lawsuits.

The Four-Step M.E.E.T. Model

  • Make time to discuss the situation
  • Explore differences
  • Encourage respect
  • Take responsibility

Key Learning Points

  • Understand the benefit of mutual respect
  • Understand the important of personal responsibility in promoting respect in the workplace
  • Use the four steps in M.E.E.T. model to promote a "mutual respect" working environment

There is a video program that is integrated into this class. The six vignettes approach sensitive issues without shame, blame or negative stereotyping and will show your employees where respect for differences meets common sense.

Each employee will receive a participant's binder, which will include discussion questions and activities.

Through our team approach to learning, the customization we provide for the individual exercises and small group activities, we provide a fun, motivating approach for your employees.
