Law For Leaders
Law for leaders is a workshop for front-line supervisors, upper-level
supervisors, HR employees, and other individuals that have the
authority to discipline or even discharge. For example, front-line
supervisors should be trained in harassment and hostile environment
prevention. If a supervisor has final authority to discharge,
he/she should have training in disparate treatment and disparate
impact.
The Problem
- Do your supervisors understand discrimination laws such as
harassment and hostile environment?
- Is your organization currently non-union, but thinking about
becoming unionized?
- Does your Human Resources department understand the legalities
behind the FLSA?
- DO HR employees understand the process to work when women
in your organization leave work to have a baby?
Our Solution
To Learn...
- The discrimination laws based on certain characteristics;
race, sex, national origin, age, disability and religion
- The difference between unionized vs. non-unionized and the
different issues associate with each one
- The definition of FLMA and FLSA and their associated rule
and regulations.
Course Outline
Discrimination And Related: EEOC, ADA, the extent of the training
that would be appropriate would depend on the level of authority
of the participants
National Labor Relations Act: Union vs. non-union (if your company
is non-union, then the emphasis is on keeping the union out and
training the supervisors on what to do if a union shows up, what
the signs of union organizing are and how to avoid unfair labor
practices; if your company is already unionized, then the emphasis
is on collective bargaining negotiations, handling grievances
and arbitration, and potentially, decertifying the union).
Family Medical Leave Act (FLMA) And Fair Labor Standards Act
(FLSA): Administration of wage-hour laws and the Fair Labor
Standards Act is probably limited to the company's Human Resources
department. This section will be highly customized to meet your
companies needs.
